Leighton Buzzard bypass to close over next two weekends
The Leighton Buzzard bypass will be closed over the next two weekends due to roadworks.
The road will be closed from Friday (June 26) to Sunday (June 28) – and again from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5 – between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) says that the works are "essential to maintain the road's condition" and "improve safety for all users".
A CBC spokesman said: "Thank you for your patience and understanding while these improvements are carried out. Please allow extra time for your journeys and follow signed diversion routes."
During the first weekend, surface dressing will take place. This process involves: spraying the existing road surface with a layer of bitumen; spreading stone chippings over the surface; rolling the chippings into the bitumen to create a new, durable surface.
During the second weekend – once the bitumen has set – contractors will: sweep the road to remove any loose chippings; reinstate road markings.
However, removing the loose chippings "may take longer during hot weather".
