The road is closed by the junction of Chiltern Gardens.

A Central Bedfordshire Council spokeswoman, said: "The closure is for remedial works due to a sinkhole from previous works. We have not been informed that this has affected any water supplies."

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “We are carrying out remedial works to rectify a defect in a previous reinstatement, in line with our agreement with Central Bedfordshire Council.

“The work involves excavating the affected section of reinstatement before backfilling and resurfacing the area.

“There are no impacts to water supplies as a result of these works.

“We are working closely with the council and will remove the traffic management and reopen the road as soon as it is safe to do so.”
