Hedge mazes

Longleat Maze in Wiltshire is the biggest hedge maze in Britain, boasting more than 16,000 yew trees. A visit to the maze can take from 20 minutes to 90 minutes depending on how good you are at finding your way through it.

The Peace Maze, in Castlewellan Forest Park in County Down, is one of the world’s largest permanent hedge mazes and represemts the path to a peaceful future for Northern Ireland. Visitors can attempt to find their way to a peace bell in the middle of the maze.

Water attraction

Cool down on a scorching summer’s day at Hever Castle’s Water Maze in Kent, but don’t forget to bring a towel!  The maze is on Sixteen Acre Island and is a series of stepping stone walkways poised over water. At intervals, the stones tilt when stood on, sending jets of water to soak the unsuspecting visitor.

All hands on deck at the pirate-themed Cornish Maize Maze at Smeaton Farm, Pillaton, which opens on July 25 with wider paths for distancing.
