Every episode of Doctor Who since 2005 hits BBC iPlayer

In a surprise move by the BBC, every episode of Doctor Who since its revival in 2005 will be available to watch on iPlayer from today (Monday June 4).

All ten series and every special are landing as box sets. So if you're keen to re-visit Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi's adventures ahead of Jodie Whittaker taking over the role, you're in for a treat.

For fans, the chance to go back to that first meeting with Rose, or re-live Carey Mulligan's chilling encounter with The Weeping Angels, may be too much to resist.

The Doctor Who back library joins a Christmas splurge of box sets and the recent addition of all four series of The Bridge as the BBC's latest attempt to forge more of a wider, extensive Netflix-like library for iPlayer.

Just the start?

"We're reinventing the BBC for a new generation, and iPlayer is key to that," claims Dan McGolpin, controller of programming for the BBC.

Interestingly, McGolpin notes these series of Doctor Who form "just part of our offer this summer" - which suggests other notable BBC shows could soon get the box set treatment too.

Doctor Who will return in the Autumn, with Whittaker as the new Doctor.

She will be joined by companions Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill on the show, with actress Sharon D Clarke appearing in a returning role.
