Champions!! Leighton Town boss proud of players after title win
Leighton Town have capped a superb season by securing the SPL Division One Central league title.
Paul Reed’s men ran out 5-0 winners at home to already-relegated Rayners Lane on Saturday, in front of 1,358 spectators, to seal their success with two games to spare. Godlove Oppong hit a hat-trick, with BJ Christie and Sydney Ibie also on target.

And Reed told the Observer he was proud of what had been achieved.
He said: “It was a great day for the football club as a whole and that was echoed by the attendance which was the highest for a long time down there.
"It was really good to eventually get the league title win over the line and it sets us up nicely to enjoy the last couple of games.
"The game itself was very much one-way but credit to Rayners Lane who are in a difficult position at the moment having already been relegated and played their part in making it difficult for us at times, but overall the quality we had was evidently too much and it was great from a manager’s perspective as I was able to utilise the depth of the squad and get minutes into as many players as possible.
"Everyone at the club has contributed on and off the pitch this year and it means a lot to so many people who have followed Leighton for much longer than I have, so it was nice to see so many down there and so many people happy.
Leighton broke the 100-goal barrier on Saturday and can now reach a century of points as they prepare to visit Welwyn Garden City on Saturday, before then hosting London Lions on the final day on April 25.
Reed added: "We’ll hope to do it all again in a couple of weeks when we lift the trophy on what will hopefully be another great day.
"Then we’ll sit down and have a few conversations over the summer in terms of the direction we then take.
"A lot of work goes in to what we do and behind the scenes and I hope what the players have produced on the pitch this year makes it all worthwhile for everyone.”
