Ex-Hatter McCann passes away
He initially worked part-time with his brother in the club’s offices before signing professional forms in 1959.
After a promising debut against Blackburn at Kenilworth Road in the top flight in April 1960, just as the Hatters were about to be relegated, he went on to make just six appearances before being allowed to move to Coventry in 1961.

Hide AdAfter a sound first season at Highfield Road the bandy-legged midfielder fell out of favour with new manager Jimmy Hill and, disillusioned, signed for Portsmouth.
Maidenhead-born McCann eventually went on to make his name at Portsmouth where he scored 98 goals in 372 first team appearances and his testimonial against West Ham in 1973 attracted a crowd of 22,000 to Fratton Park.
