Taylor, who this week joined Conference rivals Cambridge United on a two-year contract, experienced a rollercoaster campaign at Kenilworth Road.
Individual errors often saw him made a scapegoat on matchdays as he twice fell out of favour under Buckle, before surreally going on loan to Mansfield where he helped them to the title and ended up with a championship medal.
Taylor, 23, was singled out by his former boss on February 2 when his error handed Barrow a 1-0 victory, and he said: “When that incident happened I knew it was coming and a majority of the lads knew I was going to get it in the neck.
“That was an upsetting time where it shows your manager publicly dislikes you. It’s not the nicest to hear.”
Along with talented midfielder Adam Watkins, Taylor was demoted to the youth team, where he desperately tried to maintain his dignity, despite never knowing the reasons for being out of favour.
He added: “Himself (Buckle) and Carl Emberson did make it very difficult for me. It wasn’t just me, it was Adam Watkins as well.”
