Bellway site managers in Bedfordshire recognised for commitment to quality
Site managers working at Bellway Northern Home Counties developments across Bedfordshire have been recognised for their commitment to quality after winning prestigious industry awards.

Four Bellway site managers across the county were named winners of the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Awards at the end of June.
The winners, who all work for Bellway’s Northern Home Counties division, are:
Michael Crake at Chamberlains Heath, Leighton Buzzard
Richard Moore at Brook Meadows, Wixams
Dan St Hilaire at New Cardington Fields, Bedford
Dave Barron at New Cardington Gate, Bedford, which is being built under Bellway’s Ashberry Homes brand
Dave Barron is celebrating his first Quality Award as Site Manager at New Cardington Gate, having previously been part of the team that secured awards for the development in 2024 and 2025.
A carpenter and joiner by trade, he joined Bellway five years ago as an Assistant Site Manager.
Dave, from Northampton, said: “It meant a lot to win the previous awards, but to get one in my own name feels fantastic. I have been in the industry for nearly 40 years and I set high standards. I always put myself in the customer’s shoes and make sure we deliver a home that I would personally be proud to call my own.
“I’ve always been driven to do the best job I can and I believe that putting the effort in makes a real difference.”
Now in its 45th year, the NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards are among the most respected accolades in the housebuilding industry. This year, 449 site managers were selected from more than 7,500 who were assessed by the NHBC.
The awards recognise site managers who demonstrate excellence across all areas of their role, including leadership, attention to detail, technical expertise, quality control and health and safety. The successful site managers will now progress to the next stage of the competition, with the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards announced in the autumn.
Michael Crake, from Aylesbury, is celebrating his fourth consecutive Quality Award win.
He said: “Four wins in four years feels pretty good. We have a great team and fantastic support from the wider Bellway team too – everyone works together towards the same goal, and that makes a huge difference.”
Richard Moore, from Dunstable, has now won the second Quality Awards of his career.
He said: “We’re really pleased with this latest win, and it’s absolutely down to the hard work the team puts in every day. We’re focused on keeping standards high and making sure we consistently deliver quality homes for our customers.
“My goal is that at the end of each day, everyone goes home safe and proud of what they have achieved. Pride in the Job isn’t just an award; it’s the way we work.”
Dan St Hilaire, from Bedford, is celebrating his fourth Quality Award.
He said: “It’s a great feeling to win. A successful site starts with creating the right environment, where everyone feels valued, takes responsibility and understands the part they play in delivering a great home.
“We set high standards and refuse to compromise. This award reflects those standards and the hard work of the entire team.”
Iain Hunter, Construction Director for Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “Huge congratulations to our successful site managers in Bedfordshire who have won Pride in the Job Quality Awards this year.
“They have all shown absolute dedication to meeting the rigorous standards required by the NHBC judges and have inspired their site teams to share the Pride in the Job ethos, which is vital to achieving this award.
“As a company, we have targeted the Pride in the Job Awards as part of our strategic focus on quality, with best practice and expertise shared across the business.
“Richard, Michael, Dan and Dave have helped create a culture in which our construction teams consistently build homes they would be proud to call their own. We hope their continued commitment to excellence will enable them to achieve even greater success in the next stage of the competition.”
