Blackadder comes to Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre, July 2-4

The 80s TV comedy hit Blackadder II (the series set in Elizabethan England) is on stage at the Library Theatre in the first week of July, courtesy of Leighton Buzzard Drama Group. 

Three episodes of the classic comedy will be performed: Money, Potato and Chains. All the original characters from Blackadder Series 2 will be there - Baldrick, Percy, Queenie, Nursie and Melchett, as well as Edmund Blackadder himself, and also larger-than-life characters such as The Bishop of Bath and Wells, Captain Redbeard Rum and Ludwig, the Master of Disguise.  

According to director Colin Aldous: “Series 2 is where fans and critics found the true genius of Blackadder, a sharper and consistently hilarious sitcom format, establishing Edmund as a clever protagonist surrounded by incompetent fools. A ruthless parody of the Elizabethan court focusing on the absurdities of power and social standing."

"My cunning plan is to bring to our audience all the humour, scheming and antics of the TV production, adapted to our stage for our audience. Blackadder II is just pure, joyful, "laugh-out-loud" comedic theatre, focusing on a high-energy production that aims to mirror the fast scene changes of the TV show. In summary, audiences should expect an iconic instalment of British comedy that hits its stride with sharp sarcasm and great comedic timing.”

The show contains mild language and behaviour which some may find offensive.
