Buckinghamshire Scouts volunteers have a positive impact on young people
“It’s great to be able to share experience and skills with other volunteers around the County”
Over 300 young people involved with Buckinghamshire Scouts were recently awarded the top award for their section.

Across the sections, the young people had to earn Challenge badges and activity badges, with the number increasing as they progressed through the sections.
When Conor and Mia were asked what they liked about Scouts, they said, “Camps, making friends, learning survival skills, using knots for a purpose, for example, building a raft, and going to the Essex Jamboree in 2024.” When asked to describe Scouts in three words, they said, “Outside, fun, friends”

HM Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Countess Howe, said, “Thank you to all the volunteers for their support and dedication so these young people can achieve these awards. They can turn ordinary days into adventurous days. I admire the patience, commitment and resilience of the volunteers. The Scouts will be telling stories for many years about some of the wonderful activities they have done. It’s so good to see young people challenge themselves. I’m incredibly proud of this wonderful movement.”
Haniya, when asked about her daughter, said, “Amira has enjoyed Beavers and Cubs, she has made friends and tried lots of activities she had never done before. She has grown in confidence, been taken out of her comfort zone and earned several badges.” She added, “Amira has had lots of fun, has learned about kindness and been educated in a non-formal way.”
Adult volunteer Will said, “It’s great to be able to share experience and skills with other volunteers around the County. I became a volunteer as I was inspired by the volunteers I saw and met. I realised the amazing impact they had on the lives of young people.” When asked to describe volunteering in three words, he said, “Adventurous, inspiring and second-family.”
