From recording studio to half marathon, Lisa fundraises for Spectrum Community Arts
Fundraising is a vital source of funds to keep Spectrum doing what they do best!
Lisa, who lives in Leighton Buzzard has been a volunteer with Spectrum Community Arts for over 6 years and is also a Director. She has been involved with the Performing Arts from a young age and is passionate about it being accessible to all. Spectrum does just that! Providing classes and workshops for those with disabilities and additional needs. Fundraising is a vital source of funds to keep Spectrum doing what they do best!
Lisa is a singer and is lead vocalist in the Bedfordshire based band Big in Brazil, a Rock & Pop cover band. She had an ambition to write and produce a song and decided Spectrum was the perfect subject to create a song for. Lisa wrote the lyrics and a melody was composed by Richard, keys player in Big In Brazil. The song then added the instruments of the rest of the band, Sacha, Steve & Graham and Spectrum Star was complete. The song was recorded at Fit Dog Studios near Northampton and is available to download on Spotify and other platforms.
The song celebrates everyone at Spectrum but more so the participants who attend classes and events. They do literally shine like stars in an environment where they can be unapologetically themselves, express their creativity and show the world just how fabulous they all are. But, it doesn't stop there! Lisa has also entered the Milton Keynes Half Marathon to raise much needed funds. It takes place on Monday 4th May and Lisa is currently training and has a Just Giving page
where you can show your support for Spectrum and Lisa by donating. Lisa finds singing much easier than running and this is a real challenge so all support is very welcome! Spectrum are always ready to welcome new volunteers so please make contact if you would like to join us!
