First the MP met green-fingered pupils planting potatoes and learning where their food comes from. Next the youngsters excitedly introduced her to their Forest School. They showed her the fire area, where toasted marshmallows are a firm favourite and pointed out signs of wildlife including where badgers had visited. Children were busily collecting wood, building dens and cooking up a storm in the mud kitchen with imagination on full display.

Ms Mayer saw the latest addition of a new path to create an extra woodland walk, as well as looking at the pond which is being redeveloped.

Alex Mayer MP said: “It is fantastic to see and hear the real enthusiasm and energy from the pupils. The children are clearly engaged and getting so much from the chance to play and learn in their Forest School. Lessons like this build confidence, resilience and a strong connection with the natural environment. It is being led by an incredible head teacher who really cares about these children.”
