The special event welcomed local residents to join in the celebrations and reflect on the school's remarkable history, which stretches back more than four centuries. The day was made even more memorable by a performance from the Woburn Sands Brass Band, whose music created a festive atmosphere and entertained guests throughout the celebrations.

As one of the oldest schools in the area, Woburn Lower School has witnessed extraordinary changes since it first opened its doors in the 16th century. Over the past 444 years, education has transformed dramatically. What began as lessons focused on reading, writing and religion has evolved into a rich and varied curriculum that includes science, technology, computing, languages, sport and the arts.

The celebration also highlighted how much Woburn itself has changed over the years. Generations of local families have passed through the school's doors, helping to create the strong sense of community that remains at the heart of the school today.

Mrs Black (Headteacher) said, "We are incredibly proud of our school's history and the role it has played in the Woburn community for 444 years. It was wonderful to welcome so many local people to celebrate with us and to reflect on how education has changed while recognising the values that have remained constant throughout the centuries."

Pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the festivities and learning more about the school's past. As Woburn Lower School looks ahead to the future, the anniversary provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate its heritage, its community and the generations of children who have learned, grown and thrived within its walls.

Here's to the next chapter in Woburn Lower School's remarkable story.
